SS. PETER & PAUL PARISH NEWS
Phillip’s Fast Adopt-A-Family
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me...” (Matthew 24:35-36). These words of our Lord challenge us to live out our baptismal promise.
This year for our Phillip’s Fast almsgiving, our Parish Family is sponsoring a family in need in Erie. There is a need for everything from household necessities to food to Christmas gifts. Ornaments with all of these needs in every price range are on the tree in the narthex. Please consider taking one or two ornaments per week according to your means. Return the items with the ornaments attached to them by December 20. The Charity and Community Outreach Committee will organize, wrap, and delivery everything to the family. During the Phillip’s Fast, let’s share our blessings and abundance with the less fortunate.
Christmas Ornament
We have available Christmas ornaments containing pictures of some of the icons from our church as well as a couple with an exterior picture of our church. Each ornament costs $8. Proceeds from the sale of these ornaments will benefit our youth who will participate in the 2010 National ByzanTEEN Youth Rally being held on the campus of Mercyhurst College July 8-11, 2010.
Ethnic Food Available
Our parish has Potato/Cheese, Sauerkraut and Cottage Cheese Pirohi for $7 per dozen, two pound bags of Haluski for $5 per bag, and fully cooked Halupki for $8 per half dozen or $15 per dozen frozen. If you would like to purchase any food, please contact Jan Kondratic. By purchasing these ready to eat meals, you will have a quick and easy dinner and you will be supporting your church.
